Eclipsing into March with Secular Sabbath: a RHYE/Kassia Meador Soundbath + Sleepover at Primal Moves
Los Angeles has somehow landed in Spring and we want to sleepover with you.

On the day that I would begin my new job with iHeart media, the blood moon lunar eclipse was visible in Joshua Tree. Naturally, I needed to experience it. So I picked up Summer, and we headed out to Lost Moon Ranch. At 2:50am, we awoke to witness the eclipse in its totality: narrated by Nirav through his curated sound experience in silent disco headphones, his coveted chai warming our hands and hearts simultaneously. We sat in a circle quietly, and I considered what it was to be the shadow on the moon. How easy it can be to overlook the shadow, my own shadow, just to keep things moving. Yet, here we were taking time to experience it: a full moon that was once so bright, shrouded in our earthly darkness. In our shadow, the stars became illuminated - bright, shining, and falling through the sky with long tails, traces: a magic twinkle only visible in our shadow’s light.
As the sky turned pink at 5:30am, we began the drive back so that I could make my first day in the Burbank office by 10:30am. This is my version of totality as well.
Anyone that knows me knows I love a full day. I love a full mouth. I love all the flavors of life at once. This eclipse experience was no exception. This life is no exception. Taking on more opportunity only enhances my experience of creating and developing Secular Sabbath, and seeing ways to integrate it into more worldly environments. I want to keep doing more things. And so, we are.
Most notably, we are bringing back the secular sabbath sleepover on March 20th, in collaboration with Primal Moves in Venice, Los Angeles.
On March 20th, we will set out over 50 beds and curate musical performances that carry you through the night - starting with the release of my new ambient EP, which we will listen to in totality along with the 20-minute visualizer Summer Wagner and I created in Big Sur in January.
Other musical performances may include some special surprises including: Niia Rocco, Hayes Bradley, Layv, Joseph August, and more.
The space itself has a sauna, tea bar, tea ceremony room, and little nooks that we will be taking over with bodywork facilitators and wellness practitioners. This is our flagship experience, and not to be missed. Adult sleepovers are rare, and creating a safe and transformational experience is something we do best. This is our way to celebrate the equinox - springing into the season of sprouting ideas and new ways of being. This is our secular sabbath way of creating a full mouth: ‘a totality experience,’ in which the stars shine brighter illuminated by our late night shadow.
If you’d like to learn more, come to our sound bath tomorrow night in the Arts District with RHYE and Kassia Meador - I’m happy to chat about it, about what’s coming forth in this new season of life :)
